ABOUT US AND THE PROJECT
We are a group of artists and have recently started a collective called the Textile Group.
We all have very craft-based practices and we question the division that usually exists in the art world between craft and "high art".
Our group is a research, experimentation, sharing and collaborating group.
Our first project together is The Craft Pride Procession that will take place on August 6th 2011..
We inspired in Lacey Jane Roberts, who has connected queer theory and craft in a very intelligent and creative way.
The result of this will be a sort of Parade (which we choose to call Procession for practical and conceptual reasons).
The intention is to celebrate craft, claim our space, make ourselves noticeable, create and have fun.
We are inviting people to join us the day of at the park on Main and Terminal at noon and walk up to Mc Lean Park in Strathcona where we will have a celebration and crafting session.
We encourage participants to bring crafted banners, knittings, flags, whatever they want to make the Procession amazing.
